Brilliant Blue & White Marquee & The RICOH Ladies British Golf Open at Royal Lytham St Annes

Royal Lytham St Annes Ladies Golf Open begins tomorrow, the whole town is buzzing with excitement, we are awash with lady golfers and astonishing hospitality events, we could do with a golf open every week! This hospitality event in a superb CK Marquee was in corporate colours, Royal Blue & White, we used gorgeous Blue Volkerfrieden Delphinium & Avalanche Roses, I used "Blue Bees" heads set into the jelly in the tall elegant LSA vases.

Flower Design are also the very proud winners of the Ladies Golf Open Window Dressing Competition, I intended to take a photograph, but it needs to be dark, no doubt we'll be working late tomorrow so we'll take one then.

Hidden Garden + Purple

We are going to let you in on the worst kept secret here at the Hidden Garden. Are you ready? Ok, here it is...we are partial to the color purple, and by partial, I mean we LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the color purple, take a look at our website and our blog graphics and there's just some of the proof.

Whether it's a bright hue of amethyst on lisianthus or sweet pea flowers, a rich deep eggplant color on a calla lily, or a pastel shade on a roses, we will use it anyway it comes. We can't forget the ever elusive lilac with it's bright and cheerful hue that teases us for only a few weeks a year... We love this time of year when the scent of lilac fills the shop and your vases. Then we have the classics. Hydrangeas that come in various shades of purple. The makara orchids are always a beautiful sight as well as the tulips in their grape colored splendor...

Oh how we love purple here. We hope you do too, as we don't need much of an excuse to fill the shop with purple flowers!

David Austin (The Young One) Visits Flower Design

Flower Design Loves David Austin Roses, we make no bones about it, I tell you all about their greatness all the time, I know you love them too because you download the pictures of them and send me emails, so I know you'll understand how excited we were to meet the man himself all be it the younger version!

I have learned from the visit that David (We're on first name terms already) likes his roses open and blousy, romantic and fragrant and to be honest who wouldn't?

So for your and my pleasure here are a couple of delicious images with David Austin's finest included.

Here's everyone in my office, it was an early start so that explains the remnants of breakfast on Sally's desk.

We are really impressed with their passion for Roses, obviously their knowledge, insight and expertise in rose growing is legendery, but their hearfelt love and devotion to the product and the David Austin brand was surprising and inspiring, I often feel like an odity when I'm being uber-enthusiastic about flowers & Flower Design but with these guys I seriously met my match!

On October 25th, an audience of financial managers and CEOs, politicians, central bankers and nobel prize winning economists at The Economist Magazine's Buttonwood Gathering were treated to an unusual experience: a live rap battle between John Maynard Keynes and F. A. Hayek.

Following a presentation by Nassim Taleb, the lights went down in the auditorium and Fear the Boom and Bust blasted onto the screen. This video picks up at the end of that special presentation, where Keynes and Hayek stepped onto the stage to give a preview of the next EconStories music video.

In the final new video, which will be completed in the months ahead, expect many more lyrics and an all new beat.

Lastly, Russ Roberts and John Papola took the stage with John Micklethwait, editor-in-chief of The Economist for a brief Q&A about the origins of FTBB and the resurgence of Hayek in the global debate over the economy.
