~Music: Sand in My Shoes by Dido
~Lyrics:
Two weeks away feels like the whole world should've changed
but I'm home now, and things still look the same
I think I'll leave it till tomorrow to unpack, try to forget for one more night that I'm back in my flat
on the road where the cars never stop going through the night
to a life where I can't watch the sunset, I don't have time, I don't have time
I've still got sand in my shoes and I can't shake the thought of you
I should get on, forget you but why would I want to
I know we said goodbye, anything else would've been confused
but I want to see you again
tomorrow's back to work and down to sanitation
should run a bath and then clear up the mess I made before I left here
try to remind myself that I was happy here before I knew that I could get on a plane and fly away
from the road where the cars never stop going through the night
to a life where I can watch the sunset and take my time, take all our time
I've still got sand in my shoes and I can't shake the thought of you
I should get on forget you but why would I want to
I know we said goodbye, anything else would've been confused
but I want to see you again(x2)
I want to see you again
two weeks away, all it takes, to change and turn me around I've fallen
I walked away, and never said, that I wanted to see you again
I've still got sand in my shoes and I can't shake the thought of you
I should get on, forget you but why would I want to
I know we said goodbye, anything else would've been confused
but I want to see you again(x2)
I wanna see you again
I wanna see you again
This song and its lyrics are by Dido, not me!

Well, it's official: Shug and I (mostly Shug) have decided to give gardening a try. We've prepped the soil, tilled in the best organic cow poo, and even started a compost bin! The sun was shining on our efforts last weekend and we had aspirations to get a few hardy plants in the ground yesterday.
But, in our gardening zeal we forgot the most important aspect of a successful garden: good weather. I don't mean "good weather" as a constant temperature in the mid-80s, a few perfectly formed cumulus clouds floating by being sure to detour around the sun so as not to block its gentle beams, and a cooling breeze that kicks up only when I need to dab the ladylike glow of perspiration from my SPFed 55 brow. No. All I'm asking for, in official Spring mind you, is for the ground to quit freezing and the damned snow to stop flying!
Shug and I awoke to three inches of snow blanketing our prepped earth, with one valiant and reckless scallion plant trying to maintain its posture under the weight of a heavy cap of ice. Ruby tried to make us feel better by promptly pooping on the mound of lonely soil, letting us know ALL that digging and shoveling and tilling did NOT go to waste - its the perfect doggy potty, she seemed to communicate.
With more snow in the forecast today, Shug and I may have to postpone our planting even longer. I'll keep you posted on how the gardening battle wages.
Do you like gardening? Do you have any tips on how to get your veggies to flourish? Any organic gardening tips? I will take any and all suggestions!

Title: Garden Restaruant in Clark Philippines - Clearwater Resort Garden Cafe in Clark Freeport
This is exactly the kind of places that people talk about but nobody can find it when they set out to look for it. That's why I am writing to review, not only to tell you that such a place exists north of Manila but why you should not give up trying to find it whenever you find yourself in Angeles, Subic or Clark.
First of all, why is it worth the search? Well if breakfast (or lunch for that matter) is a little more than just filling up with food and coffee then you are one of those who prefers to start a day properly. There is no better way to do that then to implant a picture of green and blue in your mind. That's the view from the Clearwater Garden Cafe a.k.a. Clearwater Breakfast Garden. Presented to us is the view of the lake of Clearwater Resort & country Club, a glimpse of the white-sand beach, the idyllic lakeside lodge across the lake and to the right the fabulous Frolic garden which is laced with age-old Acacia trees.
The food is standard fare, nothing that would challenge grandma or even her yayas culinary skills. Portions are fairly large but not excessive so for a fair-size human being not on a silly diet all the time, it is finish-able. I ordered the English breakfast while my companions stuck to local versions. I kinda like the bangers and the grilled tomatoes also. My friends said the Tocino was nice but I have to suspect that these were bought from somewhere and not homemade. Anyway who cares, as long as it tastes good, right?
Before we arrived, we were worried about two young children we brought along, age 3 and 5.5. To our (very pleasant) surprise and relief, we found out that there was a kiddie playground adjoining the Clearwater Garden Cafe. How thoughtful? Later I was told that members of the Clearwater Country Club which owns the cafe by the way, bring their kids over to enjoy the playground every weekend. Our kids loved it and that meant the adults could relax and enjoy the breakfast while reading newspapers also. Talking about reading, they had nice magazines too - Wine Enthusiasts! right up my alley, and Home and Garden for the better halves.
Now, getting there was not as easy as I expected. Working in my favor was the fact that I already knew of its existence from a friend who stayed in the resort several months ago. I drove in from Manila so I entered Clark the usual way, from Dau Angeles. I followed instructions well and just drove straight without making a single turn. There was a tricky fork but I was already told to bear right when in doubt. I was in doubt so I did not take the left. I past Mimosa to my left and continued on for another 100m or so and got to a big intersection. The directional signs painted on the road misled me. You see, there were two lanes on the road and painted on one was a left-turn arrow and the other a right-turn which would suggest that going straight was not an option. Well, that costed me 5 minutes. You guessed it. The correct way was to go straight! Clearwater Resort is just 150m past that big intersection and entrance is on the right.
I got their web site for you. It is www.YatsLeisure.com. I think you can google them with Clearwater Country Club or Clearwater Resort Philippines.
not being a member of Clearwater Country Club I could only enjoy the Garden cafe which is open to the public daily 7am to 7pm. I looked at the lunch menu and it was simple and inexpensive. I think this place is not about gourmet fine-dining but more about style and ambience. I have to admit, I loved it despite a light drizzle ended my stay a little prematurely. We had to retreat back to the indoor portion of the cafe after that. Maybe you'd have better luck with the weather when you visit them.
Don't miss it whenever you have made it that far, to Angeles or Clark or even if you are coming in from Subic. This place makes you feel good and to me, that's priceless.

Title: Rose Garden (Nick Jonas love story) Chapter 1
NO COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT INTENDED!!!!! just to let you know... ________________________________________________________________
Chapter 1! woot!
I start my day off at the shop, just like every other day. I walk into the part of the store where the window is and put my
apron on. I quietly humm the song 'Rose Garden' by Nick Jonas and the Administration. That song is, I swear, based on my life.
I start to clip some roses for the window display. I take out my clippers and then start to walk over to the fresh roses.
But, me being me, I tripped and of course the clippers went straight into the palm of my left hand. luckily they didn't go
through my whole hand, but the pain felt unbearable. I scream in pain once I fully realize what happened. I quickly rip the clippers out of my hand, causing more pain. Someone comes running over to me, my mom, to see what was happening. I clutch my left hand in my right. My mom just scoffs and starts walking away.
"Get outside, I don't want to have to clean up blood." She says over her shoulder and goes back to the register.
Crying, I walk outside and lean against the brick wall. I slide down the wall, the bricks scraping my back as my shirt
slowly rides up back. Once I reach the ground I pull the back of my shirt down, getting blood on it. I then clutch my hand
again. I whimper as I accidentally touch the large slice in my hand.
I continue to cry. No one has walked by yet because we don't start selling for another few minutes and 'cause there are no other shops on this street.
It's been about 10 minutes and I'm still crying, when someone comes running towards our store. It's just a blurry figure to me because they're to far away. But, before the person could get here, my mom comes out. She stands next to me and looks down at me. I look up at her. "What?" I ask harshly, but in a whisper.
"You have to be back in there now, we're openning. Here's a rag." She says and throws a rag over my face. I grab it off my
face, stand up, and tie the rag tightly around my left hand. The bleeding has almost sub-sided so I walk in the store and get back to my job of clipping the roses and putting them in a vase and in the window. Then suddenly a boy, looking my age, comes running through the open door. He turns around.
"I win! You're buying Joe!" He yells at someone running down the street across from the store trying not to trip. I giggle slightly, ignoring the pain in my hand. The boy turns to look at me and walks over to me I quickly look away, blushing, and get back to my job. "Hey, what kind of flowers do you sell here?" He asks, still walking over to me.
"Well, we've got tulips, dasies, roses, and a few others. But mostly roses, because this is a rose garden." I say still
clipping the roses and putting them in vases.
"Hmmm, do you sell chrysanthemums?" He asks, walking closer to me. I think for a second.
"Yes. Are you looking for a bouqet of some sort?" I ask looking at him now.
"Yes, actually, I need tulips, chrysanthemums, and roses. What color roses do you have?" He asks and looks slightly
confused.
"We have blue, red, pink, tinted purple, and lime green. Any color imparticular?" I ask and peek at the front desk behind
him. I can clearly see a sticky note from my mom. She probably left me here for the day and to close up tonight.
"Well, it's my mom's birthday and umm... I actually don't know her favorite color." He admits, his face tinting scarlet. I giggle and walk over to the roses.
"Come over here." I say and he walks over. "Well you see, what we could do is get her a few of all the colors and add some tulips and chrysanthemum around the edges." I say while grabbing two of each color of roses. I then walk over to the tulips and he folows me. "Now we add the tulips." I say and space them out around the roses, to fit the chrysanthemums in.
I then take him over to the chrysanthemums and put a few of them in the spaces between the tulips. I grab a few pieces of plastic colorful paper and securely wrap it around the flowers so it stays. I hand it to the boy. "And walla!" I say as he takes them out of my hand.
"It's beautiful, thank you so much." He says, the biggest smile on his face. I giggle again. God what's wrong with me today?
"How much do you want for it?" He asks looking at me.
"On the house." I says turning to walk away. But he stops me.
