Spring Wedding at Hoghton Tower & Marquee Reception at Home

This is Lynsey & Michael's spring wedding at Hoghton Tower, the celebrations afterwards were held in a marquee at Lynsey's family home in St. Annes.

Many of the designs were very much inspired by Lynsey's Scottish heritage and Michael's South African heritage, so thistles and proteas were in abundance.....

An elegant but bold centrepiece for the registrars table using plumes of fresh Phalaenopsis Orchids, Proteas and ThistlesOrchids in the Moonlight
Key words: Understated Glamour, Purity, Romantic, Simple, Elegant, Family celebration, Intimate, Castelations, Cubism, Moonlight, Watery Reflections, South African heat, Scottish coolness, History & Tradition contrasted with Contemporary, Strong but delicate, Manicured Herb Gardens.
Colours: Silvery washed pinks to metallics, crystal ivory/whites and cool blues, Midnight Blue shades, Highlights in silver
Flowers: Phalaenopsis orchids, Protea, Scottish Thistle, Hydrangea, Peonies, Muscari (Grape Hyacinths) Midnight Blue Delphinium, Roses in shades of ivory, fragrant lavender, Eucalyptus and Rosemary, lovely luscious foliages, ivory Calla Lilies, Molucella, Viburnum Opulus, trails of ivy, Greenpeace, Moss and Heather, Thyme and wild grasses.
Sundries: Clear glass cubes, mirrors, silver candelabras, candles, organza, silk, crystals.
Shapes: A contrast between low and square and tall and elegant.
Designs: A contrast between neat, tight clustered designs and soft flowing waterfalls.
Senses heightened by: Fragrance, light, texture, colour and taste.

An impressive 6ft tall Free Standing Candelabra with sumptuous garland of fresh fragrant herbs and foliages cascading under the candelabra’s branches

The wedding bouquet was created in a “Flower Design” hand tied style with waterfall trails of Phalaenopsis orchids, white Peonies, Lily of the Valley, Proteas, Thistles, Muscari, Rosemary and Eucalyptus with a hint of diamante detail. The bouquet was completed with a silk organza ribbon and bound with a ivory silk.

After the ceremony the celebrations moved on to the marquee by CK marquees the exquisite catering was provided by Rowley's Catering

The tables were dressed with a high and low combination of fresh flowers

Each guest was given either a small posy of the signature flower of the table or a single Bloom, in this case a posy of Muscari

The low table designs were created in four cubes each cube was either South African or Scottish

The higher designs were dominated by tall candelabras

The cake was dressed with a small posy of fresh flowers

The cubes were tied together by the brides families own tartan

Fresh Hyacinth on the side plate

The base of the candelabras was also a design divided into quaters

We added fresh flowers to the floor standing candelabras once we'd brought them to the marquee

This was a delicious wedding and we had great fun designing, I love it when we have such strong themes to work with.
